New rifle question

Hi

My remmy 700 with the cheap stock still shot sub inch at 100 yards with my first outing load testing. I have now replaced the stock with a hogue full aluminium bedding block which has floated the barrel. I have not shot this rifle yet.

Please bear in mind the multitude of options available for the remmy and that it delivered very good accuracy out of the box.

I will be getting another I think. The main concern is the stock which is where remmy has saved its money but still does the job in hunting situations.

I shoot and have shot remmy 700 for the last 12 years or so amongst many other rifles.I love the remmy and its butter smooth bolt , loads of after sales stocks for it too if you do not like the standard, I didn't.

As far as the comment above about T3 goes , a mate who is a precision rifle maker is designing and producing retro stocks as we speak , any interest send a Pm and I will give you the details.

I have a 700 sps stainless .308 with the standard barrel. Accuracy was poor with standard stock but after a hs stock was fitted its damn good now. I would say if you want a lightweight gun and don't want to spend anymore than you have to then go with the tika. The stock is better, although it not a floating barrel. If you want a heavy barrel go with the remy. If you do decide on the remy standard barrel factor in the price of a new stock as you wont hit nuffing if you use a bipod. It was a no brainer for me though as i dont like the look of feel of the tika.
