Markio
well zooming in on that pic,id say thats the powder burning(smoke) the shot long gone on front of that i reckon cracking pic though. I'm going to go for both, shot in the denser part, and gas on the outside. I reckon (total guess, not from DustyFox book of knowledge) that shot and gas will exit the muzzles at pretty much the same time.
codling99
due to the weight of shot,i reckon the shot will be 20 yds away before smoke comes out of barrel, just my opinion .

rarms
The shot stays in the cup until it is well clear of the barrel, so at that distance you will only see a small lump if it is shot.

Maybe is a fibre wad from IC. I rekon that is the shot and the fainter stuff round the outside is the gasses
libs
hate to be a pain but shot flys at, for argument sake around 1,200 - 1,400 fps (800MPH ish) so will an ordinary camera, with ordinary exposure time be able to capture that, no. Maybe a highspeed camera like the mythbusters use running at 900 frames per second might.
rarms
Even with Fibre wads I am not sure it spread so soon from exiting the barrel, or at 25 yards it would struggle to pattern on a barn door!
