rimfire4969 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Share Posted December 1, 2008 My Boarder Collie done the same thing, it was bent a a real bad angle with some blood from it. I took her to the vets, he had a good look at it then give it a sharp pull and away it came. I would however not have done this myself. But it has healed up no problems. Imperfection Posted December 1, 2008 Report Share Posted December 1, 2008 If theres no blood-then chances are it has snapped passed where the 'quik' ends and you can safely cut the broken bit off.My dog is forever breaking them when playing and although they can often be painful if the quik is exposed-they're not serious. If your dog has white claws-you will be able to see the quik inside.If its black,try moving a little to see if your dog winces in pain.If so-you might want to get a vet to cut it off.
