POW!
^^^ The above somewhat backs the observation that they do defend their territory, , A sort of " FOX TURF WAR"" As an aside , I am noticing that the pairings here are allready fixed , and the pairs have started going around inspecting old earths and potential new ones , usualy its mid jan before I notice this , POW! Baldrick
POW, you're spot on: we nailed a dog and vixen that ran through the gun line together on the shoot here yesterday, flushed by the dogs. I then went out lamping, seeing several other pairs. They are making a racket at night now.
Blackbart
On the subject of pairings.A MONTH ago while out lamping we seen nothing but pairs. This was on a wednesday night, then out again on the sunday night and didnt see a pair all night and havent seen a pair untill last week ?? So i can only put that down to something in the air that night, very strange!. They are in full swing here now though, vixens calling, dogs wandering and sometimes 3 or 4 foxes in the same field.A little tip for those that dont know,if you lamp 2 or three foxes in a field and you want to curtail the number of cubs next year, try and take the one that moves first, this will invariably be the vixen trying to make good her escape, leaving the male to face the music(they are more human than you think )
maddog546
As I posted elsewhere, here in Cornwall the numpties keep dumping mangey castrated foxes on open sections of land, these idiots have no thought for what they are doing as most animals will meet a slow death if not shorten humanely by a bullet. These animals have no idea what the big wide world is like and how to hunt for real. The problem is miscommunication given out by the tree huggers that foxes all eat rabbits and are doing the farmer a favour!!!!!They eat the same as Badgers ,mice, slugs, snails and shrews its that simple, they eat chickens and lambs because they are easy to catch, because the fox is a lazy hunter and will keep returning to the same well stocked larder as we all do!!!When we are hungry we all know where to find and easy meal dont we!!!!! The animal rescue centres make a living by misimformation, all the time some dummy carries a hawk in that was digesting its dinner before being able to fly,and some saying it had probably been hit by a car or shot ,that another sucker putting monies in their collection boxes. The Rspca now thats another lot, ring them and tell them that their are hrses running in the road and they couldn't care but say someone has abused them and they will be there. I asked a relative to right a letter to the RSCPA about the dumping of what were obviously town foxes, the response was that they would never condone such action but I'm sure thats what you see on the TV,power of the press and all that!
