6shot
got my first rifle yesterday for rabbit control:D (.22 cz synthetic) what range would be a good starting point to zero it,also any other tips would be handy thanks Edited December 28, 2008 by 6shot
maddog546
Due to the lovely curved ballistics to the .22 rf a good starting point for zero is 1/2" low at 30yards which should give you zero at 80 yards and 2" low at 100yds,sorry for the dimensions being in English but I'm an old ***!!! This works fine for my gun using Winchester hush powers but will vary greatly from round to round,so find a round you like set your rifle to it and stick to it ,so you gain confidence as you go an increase your accuracy along the way. Knock em dead,as nothing in life should suffer. Good hunting Keith

maddog546
If you can get winchester stick with it as as far as I'm concerned its the most reliable ammunition of the lot, some of the american stuff you see sold cheap is utter rubbish and very unreliable(remington),the german and some of the English stuff is massively over greased and doesnt burn cleanly causing build up and obviously over time wear to the botton of your bolt. Good house keeping is the secret as with any weapon!!use a good gun oil and regularily clean your weapon and you should recieve hours of pleasure back. steve_b_wales
Another vote for Winchester sub-sonic ammo. I have used it for about 15 years and have never had any trouble with it.
magman
Eley subs shoot a tighter group through my cz but just bought 500 winchesters as they had no eley in ,will still shoot less than an inch at 60 yrds . Which is what i zero at
Dead-Eyed Duck
Yep, zero at 60 yards and you will need to give minimal allowance for bullet drop at 'normal' distances. Eley have always given the best groups in all the bolt action rifles that I have had - and I've had lots. The early Eley's were heavily waxed, but the modern ones aren't. Winchester are a bit more powerful, and so better in semi-auto's to ensure reliability, but in the tests that I have done not quite as accurate as Eley. However, all rifles are different and Winnies might just give a better group. Don

6shot
went out today after dinner to set the zero. put a foot square target up at 50yds with a cross on it. had about 15 shots that missed buy a mile with every shot but managed to work out i was well to the wright buy watching where the bullets were hitting the back stop.within another 15 shots i was within an inch of the cross on the target went back out tonight about 6 had 3 rabbits 2 with head shots. so good day for my first outing with the cz. carnt believe how good these .22s are on first impressions i think i will change the zero to 60 yds.thanks Edited December 28, 2008 by 6shot
