Whitebridges
Spotted the release of a new design automatic on the Browning website called the Maxus. Does anyone know if Browning plan to release this in the UK and if they are how much will they cost? Looking at the USD price and the exchange rate it's got to be in the region of £1k I should think. The promotional video is worth a look. I think Browning have lagged behind the competition on semi-auto's in recent years, this could be the answer. Any opinions anyone? pair away
well if it shoots anything like as good as this video says it will they should have a world beater on their hands ( i dought it ) three years ago there was a very similar video for the last browning auto and the winchester SX3 ( same gun different name ) and that has never realy taken off , i would agree with you in that browning have lagged behind in this market so maybe this is the gun to do it ? i think they will have to lift their game though if they want to come even close to the benelli M2 . JRDS
Benellis are nearly twice the price of the SX3, good guns but well overpriced as are the Berettas. If you look at a semi as the sum of its parts and their ease of manufacture there isn't alot to them. I have had a Benelli Mancino and now have a Browning Gold Hunter, the Browning does everything the Benelli did but with less recoil.
pair away
JRDS The original post said the new browning would be around £1000 , the SX3 has arrp of £750 , and you can get anew M2 for well under a grand , this was my point. Whitebridges
Thanks for the replies lads. I like auto's particularly shooting pigeon from a hide. Over the years i've owned various Beretta's,Remingtons, Brownings a Franchi and a Benelli (woodcock). Two top guns are in my opinion the 303 and the Pheonix. The best ever though is the Browning B2000 which is 1980's technology. Tomorrow I'll put a call in to a few local Browning dealers to see if the new Maxus is scheduled to even arrive on these shores and if it is how much it is likely to cost. If there is news i'll post. Looks as though they've thought about this new jobbie quite a bit and it looks a belter. Cheers and a Happy New Year everyone. Think you will find Benellis may well go up 30 - 40 % next year, the basic M2 is now the best part of a grand whereas an SX3 can be had for just over £600. I was comparing the SX3 to the Benelli not the new Browning, the way things are going we will all be on Escorts if you want a new Semi. Anyway you pay your money and take your choice but 2009 is going to be exceptionally expensive for any imported goods.
