Cushat
Have tried Federal 100 grainers in my new Sako 75 stainless and they seem OK (1.5" groups) but I'm sure I can do better. Anyone got any suggestions as to what to try?
moses
Try federal vital shock 100grn sierra gameking BTSP, winchester ballistic silvertip 95grn or Norma 100grn softpoints are also good. ATB Moses
Baldrick
Norma 100gr every time, or RWS 100gr SP if you can find them.
sean c
My tikka loves the 100grn federal powershock, 80grn powershock and 100grn sako ammo (both the nosler partition bullet and sako's own bullet). Next would be the norma 100grn but its about £4/20 more the rest don't perform well in my gun.
labrador
you will always want tight groups in a target rifle but if it is for deer stalking 1.5 inch is plenty lab.
TheHunter
Cushat Are you reloading or buying off the shelf? I have a couple of handloads which should be sub 1 MOA in a Sako
gunboot
sounds like your doing ok concentrate on the ammo you have! you may find you can improve on your technique.
Cushat
Yeah, I know 1.5" is fine for a hunting rifle but I'm fairly sure I can tighten things up a bit and I know the deer won't feel any difference but it will just give me a bit more confidence in my rifle. Just off the shelf stuff for now - picked up some Norma's at the weekend so will give those a try when I get a chance to get down to the range. Thanks for all your suggestions.
