Matt Gould
I bought a fixed choke baikal for rabbit and pigeon shooting a couple of weeks ago and have just checked the choke size, the results were, bottom barrel 3/4, Top barrel extra full choke. What i would like to know if this is normal for a baikal fixed choke ?? at the moment i have to be VERY accurate Cheers Matt Edited January 4, 2009 by Matt Gould
drut
Most of the (admittedly older) Baikal O/Us I have seen have been heavily choked, when I was looking for one I came across umpteen choked 1/2 & full but only one 1/4 & improved. I use a double trigger none ejector (1/2 & full choked) Baikal as a rough shooting gun & am quite happy with it. The top barrel is normally loaded BB in case of fox & 6s in the bottom for the rest does OK, although to be honest it is rare I use anything else than a Hushpower when it comes to shotguns. ph5172
i recall there was a post on chopping the barrels to open up the choke. i had a baikal with 2 sets of barrels so there may be some chance of purchasing a second set cheap..worth a post in the wanted ads. Zapp
That sounds just like my very first gun, Baikal O/U with 3/4 in the bottom and light aircraft in the top. As someone has already said, I think cutting down is the only remedy for these guns, due to the fact the chrome lining in the barrels is harder than superman.
