sambu13
i took an old gun i inherited to a gunsmith to see whether it was safe last week. he said 'yea its ok, its got a headache tho' i didnt know what this was and he explained it was what its called when the gun wobbles at the breech. apparently the only problem is it makes it kick. so we tsted it and it was fine, i was pleasantly suprised. when i tried it yesterday tho i put a 32gm in it (we tested it with a 21gm) MY GOD IT KICKED LIKE A *******!!!! it opened itself! i wont be using that with those carts again! sambu13

clayman
The headache simply means its loose in the action. Take the fore-end off and hold the stock on the end with one hand and on the action with the other, wobble the gun from side to side - if you can feel the barrels moving in the action, this is the headache. It can be anything from a sign of minor wear, easily corrected by a gun-smith, to a sign of severe wear and neglect, in which case either spend a fair amount of money on a complete overhaul or get rid of it! 955i
To be on the safe side, I wouldn't put anything through a gun that has opened while firing until the problem is solved!
paulos
I had the action of my S/S tightened up a while back and it cost me £35 at my local gun shop Worth getting done just for the peace of mind.
