Huntinlass
It could just be the case of you are a new smell and isn't sure what to make of you. Or it hasn't been handled enough. Either way handled the ferret regular-daily, and it will get use to you as you will get use to him/her.

lurcherboy
All the above and spit in the palm of your hand and offer it to the offender. It should drink it and it's difficult for one to bite your palm unless you have hands like a woman. LB
evilstoat
scruff it straight away and make a hissing noise...not too loud to scare it...apparently thats what the mother does when getting them under control, you are also supposed to drag the hind legs along while scruffing and making the noise but i just used to scruff and make the noise...tells them who is boss. what ever you do don't get into the habbit of putting them down when they bite, because they will link the biting with wanting to be put down, so if your cute little furry friend wants to get down he'll try and nip you...bet it's a gill you'll get it used to you...early days...you expect that with a new one, although i have never been bitten so far, don'ty want to be either, i have had my ferret 2 years now..i think alot of him.
