wacker
Went beating on Saturday and overheard someone saying that using magnets, decoys and roost shooting are to be banned. They would have to change the general licence - I certainly havent read anything to suggest that this is true. Have any of you heard anything? Catamong
Yes, you're quite right, I've just sold all of my gear to some mug on e-bay, my golf handicap will be coming right down. Cat.
Cranfield
Nope, I think you will find this is the usual old rumours that surface every couple of years. Their origin is in the fact that the General Licence, under which we can shoot winged vermin 12 months of the year, specifies they have to be attacking the crops at the time of the actual shooting. Roost shooting doesn't qualify under that criteria. Its also though by some that attracting the winged vermin to the fields by the use of magnets, decoys, etc., is also unfair. I guarantee you will hear the same rumours, same time next year.
Highlander
Unfortunately the General Licence is renewed each year and is now administered by Natural England so watch this space as anything could happen
