Bleeh
Yes you can , no it won't. It's brilliant sport, but you've got to be dead fast on the pull if you're doing it in a woodland.
RhiannonBW
I've been offered the chance to go ferreting once I get my SGC through, as I understood it to pick off any that bolt through missed holes or otherwise manage to avoid the nets. I'd love to have any hints and tips from people who've done this before. Rhiannon

Ferret Master
Just make sure the rabbits are well clear of the holes before you fire. You don't want to shoot a ferret above or below ground. Also yes the bang can scare a ferret. I don't reccomend using shy ferrets prone to skulking if bolting to a gun. Last season I had a good flock of woodies go over the top of me and just as I closed the gun my friend shouted 'The ferrets by your foot!' This was the first time she had been seen in half an hour and I know if I had fired then she would have dissapeared for quite a while. Unfortunately by the time my friend made her way over to collect the weasel who was wondering what the boss was doing the pigeons had done the offski. Cranfield
Its my experience that the incidents of lay-ups increase when you shoot over bolting rabbits. The ferrets may not be alarmed by the noise, but the rabbits usually are and can sit tight. Its best (and safest) when you can position the guns well away from the actual earths and shooting with their backs to the holes.
