I have three. Two cheapy chinese (one 3-9X40 and one 4X20 which i have no use for)

My main scope is a JSR 3-9X40 AO IR which i LOVE to pieces. I can imagine some people wanting higher power which you can get with the 50mm OL but 40mm is enough for me. :good: Parallax down to 4.5 yards i've found on mine and all the way out to WAY over what i need

Just purchased a Walther 4-12x50 to put on my AA S410( day hunting). The existing 3-9x50 will go to my new BSA ultra Multishot. My Webley Longbow has a 3-9x40 scope that is for sale but dispatched 6 rabbits with IR on 20/1/2009. The IR equipment will go on the ultra as I need a more rapid reloader to rid the farms of vermin.

I also have a Walther 4x12x50 AO/IR. Good bit of kit for the money but hasn't yet picked up quite the same following as say Nikko.

Unless the gun is being used for FT or HFT you'll probably see most will opt for some kind of utility scope with magnification ranges like 3x9 or 4x16 as they cover most needs.

If you hunt, the tendency is to set it to say 6x or 8x mag & leave it there & huge magnification isn't needed.

I suspect 3x9 zoom will be the most popular, given it covers most general applications & will be at a lower price point than a higher range of magnifications.

Price is frequently a factor to influence choice i.e not everybody has or chooses to chuck unlimited funds at theses things.

Airgunning is pursued on many levels with budgets to match.
