Bleeh
I'm going to buy a cheap s/s for my girlfriend, but I was wondering (as she is left handed) will any old shotgun do, or do you weirdos have a different stock for it being mounted on the left shoulder or anything? Silly question, but I was curious.. Cheers

Silly question, but I was curious.. Cheers To be honest you should'nt buy a s/s for your woman as it will knock her about. That's your job not a sbs's. I have a nice sbs with a cross over stock made by Ge lewis. Left shoulder right eye so you would not be all that weird as lefty is in the weirdo world!!!!!!!! £1500.
Country_est
If she is left handed with left master eye then any straight stock (no cast) should be Ok, better with a bit of left hand cast (proper leftie gun). As mentioned above, wouldn't get a lady a sbs (not a cheap one (gun that is)), better off with a O/U or 20b if slightly built. May not be much diff in recoil on 12 & 20 but the lighter handling gun can be easier. Can also go down in shell size to 21g to reduce recoil if an issue. I have a nice sbs with a cross over stock made by Ge lewis. Left shoulder right eye so you would not be all that weird as lefty is in the weirdo world!!!!!!!! If she is left handed with right master eye rather than the above mentioned violin of a gun (can I see pics) if she hasnt shot at all it is eiaser to teach them to shoot with which ever is their master eye. My missus is right handed but due to having lazy right eye is left master eye. Having never shot it was not natural to her to mount in anyway so was easier to teach her to shoot as straight leftie. Cheers Trev.
utectok
allways shoot over the dominate eye not dominante hand and use a corisponding cast in the stock. Left eyed left shoulder left cast gun opposite for right eyed. This in mho the best way to shoot to ur potential.

While there are documented exceptions where shooting off the "wrong" shoulder has seen better results, in my practical experience this is rare. I find that retraining natural hand eye co-ordination from a right handed shooter to the off side is much harder and gives poorer results than dealing with the eye-sight issues and retaining the dominant handing. Some-times, this is not possible, and left shoulder on a right handed person is the only option, but one I would take only in extreme circumstances. The ability to handle a gun smoothly, control the mount and lock-on, and maintain the swing-on, is paramount. If the eyesight is good in the Right, but not dominent, there are several solutions to the eye problem that dont involve shoulder switching - and usually one of these will work well. Master Eye Patches ( EBay) Magic Tape Prism films Blink-out training My own view on end performance from 20 yrs of coaching 100s of pupils at all levels is keep the dominant handing if at all possible, and only shoot off the other shoulder if the eyesight is on the handed shoulder is too poor to use. utectok
Interesting point clayman. I guess at the end of the day whatever works for the shooter is good my advice came from " breaking clays" book ( chris brasher?) and since I dislike all the cross dominace aids and try to keepit simple I shoot off the left shoulder though I'm right handed. Having said that I have always shot of my left since way before I got a shotgun. My dad. Said shoot left handed with airguns as he thought I'd go on to shotguns one day! Thanks dad!
