evilstoat
just brought a raider 2 shot and been out shooting with a few lads, who also have pre charged guns, they have ther guns at more ft pound and was basicaly doing more damage than me is ther any wher you can get the gun more powerful or does anyone no how to do it take it to get it recharged, that may be the problem, especially if the gauge is lying to you, not sur eif you realise but it's against the law to possess let alone use and air rifle that is capable of producing at the muzzle more than 12ft pounds of energy, it is then classed as a section 1 fire arms and if caught with it, you may do some prison time, not to mention lose your beloved new rifle...but most importantly it's irresponsible, if not licensed to carry such a rifle. it also damages the sport for genuine shooters, who do abide by the law...so if your friends do have a rifle over that...be the better man and ignore the fact they are illegally modifying their air rifles, you may like i said just discover the gun isn't at it's proper air pressure (run down), not sure if the raider has a regulator, but if they have modified their rifles...don't be a sheep and follow the crowd, i have used a Raider 10 shot, and it's quite capable of dropping rabbits at 30-40 yards with ease and kill them cleanly at under 12ft pounds, if you want to have more energy transferred to your qaurry EG. Rabbit then go for a hollow point type pellet, that expands slightly on impact, they don't over penetrate. Also get competent with targets, before firing at live qaurry...and make sure the shot counts don't take shots that you are not sure you are going to give a clean kill, only take a shot if you know you are going to hit it in the head and kill it out right. One more important thing i forgot to mention...but i'm sure you will know thisbefore going out hunting...get permission from the person that owns the land in writing preferably, don't shoot at pigeons or any other bird in your garden...get a stiff penalty for that too...if you are going shooting on someones land without permission, it's classed as armed tresspass, and you will certainly if reported wandering around with a rifle get a visit from the boys in blue, not the run of the mill friendly bobbies either. thats all really...if you have a firearms certificate...ignore all i said...if not take the advice and think about instead of upping the power and breaking the law...think about scopes, accessories ect. Hope you have lots of happy safe hunting ES Edited January 30, 2009 by evilstoat

MM
if its a .22, they can mess about when charged with a pump, so try and get it bottle charged. check with a chrono that its chucking out about 11.5lbs, and if not, take it to a gunsmith. Can't see how filling a 22 with a pump make's any difference as only the size of the barrell bore and depth of the pellet probe is different between a 22 and 177 rifle any way. Think what's happening here is he has a 11ft and mate's have say 20 ft which is of course a significant difference. As 1st quote "don't be the sheep as it may be you who get's pulled on the way home and get's 5 year in jail". Believe it or not, you well as just have a sub machine gun If you are going to have even 12.1 as they are treated exactly the same, so take note of what the good man in 1st quote wrote my friend. atb Edited February 14, 2009 by noluv6

Big_Sam
The output power with a Webley Raider varies according to the air pressure. I know because I have one, and have shot an entire tank across the chronograph. From a pressure of 200BAR the power will be about 10 FT/LB When it drops to 140BAR the max power of 12-13FT/LB depending on the pellet. Then at 110BAR it drops to 11FT/LB Then at 100 BAR it drops to about 9FT/LB. So I always charge to 180BAR which gives me 11FT/LB with a max after 30 shots of 12FT/LB The raider is well capable of going over 12FT/LB, so choose the pellets carefully to keep it under. Big_Sam
Set? An easy word to use, but I have no intention of fiddling inside something charged to over 2000 PSI......
