henry d
On Wednesday I was at a cock shoot and this poor springer of 18 months was there and this is what happened after one drive. This is the second time it has damaged it`s tail and it will now have to be docked @ £140 plus the pain the dog has endured from twice damaging it`s full tail plus the recovery period and the possibility it may not wake from the full anaesthetic ! Bloody politicians
henry d
Forgot to add I could have moved the hair back from the tail tip to show the damage more thoroughly but I didn`t want to hurt the dog any more.

GJUK
Why are you getting upset? You are able to dock working dogs. This is a working dog, so it was the owners choice not to dock it.

Skippy
Absolute mindless stupidity is the whole reason why i left the police! I have a 17 week old springer with a docked tail, but its a bit on the long side and im terrified of this happening to the poor guy!

Carbonrocket
Please excuse my ignorance before I ask some questions. How is a tail docked, is it in the same way as a sheep? This is my lack of understanding but if the tail was removed as a pup then obviously this would have not distressed your dog. How did it happen to your lovely dog? Carbon
dave1979
when we were kids i used to help my dad dock the dogs tails...he just cut them with sharp scissors wen they were 2 days old and then put antiseptic on the end!!!! never a problem!!!!! the pups whined for bout 5 mins then that were that..the bitch then used to keep um clean!!! this countrys on its **** all rite!!!! Carbon Docking 2-3 day old pups doesn`t hurt them as their nerves are just connecting and as Dave has said, the pups will hardly feel it if at all, some don`t even notice. Vets use a scalpel like a guillotine motion. Thankfully it wasn`t my dog, however it is one of the reasons my young springer will now be spayed, as I can`t stomach the thought of putting the dogs through that possibility. Carbon my vet uses a pair of minature dogs nail clippers then corterises the tail with some kind of sulphur (looks like a long match) he tells me its the same stuff as you use to develop photos. no pain and a simple process which stops the dog from enduring pain after pain from injuries.in my eyes docking is far better for the wefare of the working dog which is why i pay to have mine done. GJUK
Tie a dogs tail = no bald spot on the end of the tial (hair grows) cut a dogs tail = bald spot on the end of the tail (no hair)
