Bi pod or Tri Pod

I've made a couple of bipods for standing shots but find it seems worse than freehand unless I also brace myself against a tree. So if I need a tree anyway...

I'd guess a tripod would provide more stability but it'll take longer to deploy when an opportunity arises - and the quarry will possibly spot you faffing about with it if it waits that long. After finding the bipod didn't work for me I tried experimenting with my freestanding stance. I now shoot better with my supporting hand much further rearwards so there is only about 6" between my hands, and tuck my supporting upper arm against my lower ribs.
