Birdboy
Still on the look out for a synthetic 223. Been offered a package deal at my local RFD for a brand new package. What do you guys reckon. Not sure about the glass ! .223 Howa 1500 s/c synthetic Nikkon Sterling Nighteater scopes 3-10x42 Wildcat Predator 8 Mod Mounts £850 Seems a good deal to me, and the scopes looked good, but think they are better suited a rimfire What do you think ? Skippy
Dunganick could probably offer you some adivce with the Howa, although he doesnt have a synthetic one, he has had a nightmare with it! I have a nighteater on my .22, it isnt bad but you get what you pay for. I got a secondhand tikka 595 laminated stock with T4 and schmidt & bender scope for £650 or 700 i think it was. has shot spot on since i have had it with a small wandering issue which was my fault having oversprayed my mod with WD40
dunganick
Would avoid the Howa and go for something tikka or Rem (never owned but people seem to like them) There are lots of options for the synthetic stocked howa, i did actually have a synthetic howa and the stock was awful, however they do some nicer stocks with a ruberised finish. Still i would avoid the howa, i am still hoping mine will shoot well one day, but its never been amazing.

Birdboy
Thanks for the advice. I will look at the Tikka then. It was a close second choice anyway ! Cheers Gary
Beardo
Garyb has moved me in the direction of an RWS Titan 3, i must say they feel just right - well worth checking out (i was tempted by the Howa thumbhole as well, but they've not come across well in the forum)
Birdboy
Cheers Fister. I dont think the Howa is for me. I can pay a little bit more than £850 but trying to avoid the £1000 mark ! Going to research the Remmy 700 and Tikka - I like the synthetics, so any other suggestions would be good.
