Pigeon over rape - in the rain

Hi people,

I was planning on going pigeon decoying tomorrow, but it looks like rain all day.

Is it still worth going? - will there still be as many woodies in the rain?

Thanks

Northy

i can't speak for everyone mate, but in my opinion pigeon decoying is absolute pants in the rain :good: .I've tried it plenty of times but i'm pretty certain you'd be wasting your time if you go. From my experience, pigeons will rather roost up somewhere rather than go and feed in the rain.I read somewhere that pigeons can tell when the rain will stop by the atmospheric pressure,so will often fly back to their feeding grounds in the rain knowing the weather will clear up soon. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news mate, best of luck if you do decide to go

If the rain was going to be stop start i would say go, pigeons hate getting wet flying around so they roost, which means they can`t feed, when the rain stops they will keep hitting the feed then when it rains they will roost, it can help your shooting to a degree but you have to be very lucky, personally i would spend the day at home.

As Warlock said if the weather keeps going from showers to dry spells you will get a few birds.

At the end of the day any day spent in the field is fun.

At this time of year getting a good bag is hard to come by and any time spent in the field will help.

I would go if I was you.
