sambu13
im looking for some cheepish decoys to get me started, what about these? East anglian pigeon decoys from ****************? or other suggestions please!? cheers sambu13
ShropshireJohn
You want the most realistic looking decoys going. The cheap ones have nasty paint on them which appears shiney to the Pigeons.. they don't like this! I don't think I'm allowed to openly link you to any sites.. but if you google 'Decoy Direct' they do 10 realistic looking decoys for £22.50 5 x Heads up 5 x Heads down - feeding I've got the £22.50 set and they look quite realistic, the paint is also non shiney.. I've also got some flocked shells that I had from there. Both were good quality Edited March 10, 2009 by ShropshireJohn
sambu13
cheers, i think there similar to the ones i was looking at! would those 10 be an ok starting point to have a go at decoying? cheers sambu
Cranfield
There are cheaper options, its worth having a look round. 10 are enough to start and keep you eyes open at Boot Fairs, Jumble Sales, local Auctions , etc. I have picked up cheap secondhand decoys from all those places. Have a look in the Craft and DIY section for the home made floater/bouncer threads. You can make some of the kit yourself.
anser2
5 years ago I got a dozen sportplast pigeon shell decoys and despite several hundred days of use they still have a good matt finnish and their paint shows no sign of chipping or fadeing. They were a bit pricy but worth every penney. I got some different shell decoys from a country show last year ( no makers name on them ) and they were usless, the paint is comming of them badly , all the hooks on the stakes have broken and they do not wobble in a wind due to the steakes being too tight. Get some good quality shells ( I have bagged thousands of pigeon over them coupled with a handful of H&H decoys a lofter , couple of floaters and a magnet ) they will pay in the long run. Shooting Tom
ShropshireJohn, i got my decoys from there as well, they are good and bring in the decoys. But i dont really thing 10 is enough, you want around 20. But they are a good site. I would also recommend a pigeon magnet or boucers or flapper. As you NEED movement in the patten. Also i am from east anglier lol At the moment the pigeon are very clever and dont really want to know about decoying as they have been shot at sooo much. Its not fair lol. Good luck.
