Stuart,

You can pay top dollar and get

http://www.deben.com/lights_lamping/lightf...mmer_switch.php

I have one and it works really well :good:

But how about a Pigeon Magnet Speed Controller???

I think it will work in the same way.

Control the power = control the rotation/ brightness

http://www.##############/?page=show-item&item=420

Alot cheaper but a bit bulkier.

Now that you are being pushy, Stuart, here's my recommendation: don't buy the Deben in-line dimmer. I have burnt two of them out, pretty costly and tedious stuff. I just use a simple on/off switch now, and lamps with different bulb wattages.

Sussex Lad's recommendation about the rotary controller is worth (me) considering.

If like me you use the Deben in-line dimmer and change to more reliable and less bulky connections, be VERY sure to connect it up with the correct polarity or it will cease to function forever!!

I use the in-line dimmer rigged up with my hand held 170, using the auto wiring bullet and socket push in connectors, it works a treat.

Hi,

Do you know the wattage of your lamp? If its say 100watts for example then 100watts / 12volts (if it runs on 12V) = 8.3Amps. The controller you select should be able to handle the amps and not be operated for very long due to the heat.

hope this helps Agent36
