Ballymac
Was tidying out the garage and decided to get all the decoying gear sorted. I took a stock take of the equipment that I have gathered up since my first outing. My first introduction to decoying was 5/6 yrs ago and arrived with my shotgun some cartridges and that was it. One of the guys had borrowed some decoys (about 12) and we had a great morning (4 of us). Total equipment was 12 decoys, how things have changed. I now have a camo 2ply stealth hide 4m x 1.5m with hide poles(4)pair of airpro decoys, pair of magpie decoys,6 full bodied crow decoys, 9 full bodied pigeon decoys 12 shell decoys, cartridge bag, 2 seats and 3 adjustable bouncers and 9 easy wobblers. These are in need of replacement and have some brick pallet wrapping to make my own. Also have remains of older hide (leaf blind type). My shooting partner who borrowed some decoys for that first outing has a hide 12 crow and 12 pigeon decoys and a magnet with a pair of "flying" pigeons and crows for the magnet. What should we buy next ? Was thinking about the sillosocks or even the jackets? Or should I just make do with what we have? No answers required. Just thought I would post this as a word of caution. I think we can get too carried away in all the equipment. Although my decoying opportunities are limited as in N.Ireland we do not have the same number of birds, types of crops, size of fields etc so we can probably make do with less equipment
Greenhunter
I know what you mean. I've got a 6ftx 6ft shed just for my pigeon gear Can a man have too much shooting equipment? Probably
Ozzy Fudd
ive got 3 crow decoys, two magpies, 20 pigeon shells and 10 full bodied ones, a couple of small seats plus two camo nets. so far only the crows and magpies get used but when out on tuesday i noticed a neighbouring chicken farm was swarming with pigeons and crows, plus its got a 15/20 acre field beside it which is always used for crops, so next time im up that direction and have all the docs with me ill call in and see the farmer, might get to use the pigeon decoys a bit more
