Skinning a Pheasant

Recommended Posts

Wasn't sure whether to post here or in the recipes section but decided here following pin's video on crowning the wood pigeon (very good). This too is a very good instructional film. I thought the guy was doing a pretty good job until his comment when he'd finished.

Maybe a section on instructional films of this ilk would be a handy section to have instead of being plastered all over the place?

Lay the pheasant on its back, spread the wings and place your feet on the wings right next to the body. Grab the bird by the legs, and SLOWLY pull up on the legs. You will wind up with the legs in your hands, the guts, neck and head will still be lying on the grond. Stand on the head and skin the legs, cut them off and you are done!! Far less a mess, and no loose feathers flying about!! You can then skin the wings however far back you wish to go. Hope you get a chance to try this.
