just read in the paper that a firearms licensing officer from durham police has been arrested for the alleged sale of more than 100 shotguns handed in by the public to be destroyed. Anyone from durham bought a new gun lately from their flo? In his defence a spokesman said "all the guns went to licensed shotgun cert holders or firearms cert holders". Oh well, that's ok then is'nt it.

There use to be one in Kent that seemed more interested in buying/selling guns, getting shooting permissions and cheap cartridges, clothing etc., than doing his "real" job.

In fairness he was a "civilian" and I have always found these less impressive than "real" policemen FLO's.

I take it the proceeds of the sales didn't make it back to police coffers and thats what he has done wrong?

otherwise I do know a mate who bought a very nice berretta from my local force that was handed in to be destroyed but was deemed too nice. He also used to get a fairly constant supply of cartridges from the same source. Is that wrong ok they were handed in but can the police not sell them onto legitimate owners, it would seem to make sense

A good mate of mine was visited by the police a few weeks ago his 410 shotgun that he bought a few months ago is one of the guns in question they checked everything out and told him he was the legal owner and not to worry and even gave him paperwork to that effect..

They were just tracing back along the line to find out the source looks like they succeeded...
