silver_pigeon
Hi there, Can anyone recommend anything to use on grass where dogs have wee'd!? Our Jack Russell pup is making a hash of our garden, wee puddles are just burning into the grass, and despite feeding it with lawn food regularly, there are unmistakeable patches all over the garden! Anyone used any of these sprays you can buy to put on the places, just after they wee! They are so damn expensive, we'd be grateful if anyone could give some reviews or even tell any known spray cures/helpers!? Many thanks, silver_pigeon
MJN
I wouldn't use any sprays, just plenty of water. If it's a bitch then you're ****ged, it'll just get worse, best bet is to dig the dog it's ow n sandpit and train it to use it. M. 0r take it for a walk !!!!! new to the flock
SilverPigeon, There are rocks that you can put in the dogs water bowl that change the acidity of the urine. I have covered it on here before, if you give me a moment I will see if I can find it. NTTF
MJN
SP, a male dog will use try to scent a particular place in general so how about it's own scenting post ?, my dog always likes the rotary drier, so concreted around it, then bare grass is not a problem. just a thought. Mrs Sweepy
Hi Miss Pigeon I think i can beat you on the lawn problem. My Sammy (the little rotter)has decided that he dont like my lovely Green grass . So at every chance he gets his digging it up. . I now have the clumber whos walking around looking like he has got brown socks on his feet. And my poor lawn is fast disappearing. Someone has told me it could be a mole. But i have seen no sign of one. Am kinder of living in hope that Sammy will turn out to be the truffle dog. But so far all he has found is the one armed plastic soldier and the peg. So please please please can someone help me too before we get the first lots of rain April. And i end up outside Mud Wrestling the Clumber. xxxxSuzy Sorry SP For Hijacking your post. But am the desperate women. You know.
CharlieT
Like all urine, dog urine is not acid but has a neutral ph. Therefore it is not acid burns. The lawn problem is caused by the high concentration of nitrogen in the urine. The only real solution is to dump large volumes of water onto the spot as soon as the dog has peed thereby diluting the nitrogen. However the simplest way is to train the dog to pee in a specified area. Your bonus though is that as the dog matures he will start to cock his leg and pee on your bushes killing them rather than your lawn !!! silver_pigeon
Hey Mrs Sweepy! No probs, I'm sorry to hear about your digging problem! I have to admit, that we do get that problem sometimes too, our Cairn can shift mud at a phenomonal rate, and Salop Sniper is very often to be found in the kitchen pacing by the window waiting to pounce on him for trying to impersonate a JCB! Hope that someone can come to your aid with some help! xx

Salop Matt
Well the water rocks arrived and Silver pigeon put them in the water bowl .................. What followed was aqua carnidge. Looks like we have 2 contestants for the K9 apple bobbing team, should you be able to spot them through the throth and torrent of water. Once the subacqua antic`s had stoped Bryn decided to sit and gard / stair at the bowl incase the rocks tryed to run off ! What followed was several unwanted retrevies of the rocks from the bowl. I can honestly say the following 2 hours was near none stop water drinking through there fasination with the rocks ! lol
