Billy.
Yup, open (lucky sod  ) However what's annoying is that your police force differentiate between foxes and vermin, so it's a bit **** if you're out shooting bunnies with your 17 or 22lr and a fox pops in front of you. tlennox
I'm currently waiting for mine coming back from Durham and I hope it comes back in the same way. How long did it take to come through? I asked PC Huxley about calibre for fox and he said Durham police would not take any action on anyone shooting fox with smaller calibres as long as they felt that it was done without causing unnecessary distress to the fox. He advised me not apply for .243 for fox only so I had to opt for 22-250. Tony

Tony Sounds sensible.I have fox on all my calibres as well.I think it is a common sense thing. And a good choice in the 22-250,which imo is THEE ideal calibre for fox. George1990
What exactly does open mean?
Blackbart
open basically means you can shoot anywhere you have permission that you deem safe to shoot the calibre of gun you have.Instead of having the land inspected by your firearms department and them telling you it is safe to shoot your gun there. Basically it means they think you are sensible enough to weigh shots up(safety wise) your self.
