Tobyb525
Hi, Getting a Baikal s/b .410 soon which comes in fixed choke either 1/2 or Full. Whats the best choke for a .410? I'm thinking full so I can shoot bunies out bit further with the tighter pattern. :( Does the full restrict shot size/load? Also it will be used by my mum for a small amount of clay shooting Thanks, Toby
alexm
I'd go with the full choke. It won't restrict your choice of shot or loads unless you are going to be using steel shot or buck/slugs (unlikely!). Like you say, the pattern on a .410 can look a little 'threadbare' as the distance increases so you could really do with a good amount of choke to maintain your pattern density. welshwarrior
All mine have been full worked well for me. Didn't know could get any but full and 3/
malkiserow
May argue to open the choke up a bit as you cannot really get long range shots with a .410 so best get the shorter ones by not being too tight. Have a look at the some of the .410 sites and read their logic.
alexm
The other thing, of course, is that if you find the gun patterns badly for your needs at least you have the option of getting full choke machined out to suit!
Tobyb525
Thanks, I think I will go for the full.
Floating Chamber
Modified is more than enough. You may get 'balling' with anything tighter.
