bruno22rf
Ive always been told that grease picks up and holds anything that touches it-i.e. dirt, sand and minute particles of metal/lead from the gun.It then turns this mixture into a cutting paste that ruins your gun in time-use a light gun oil and clean the area regularly with a toothbrush

Ninj
If your are concerned about a moly grease picking up excess dirt - try something like Hoppes Dri-Lube
Fuji Shooter
Thanks everyone - so no clear winner then. I guess like everything in shooting it's whatever floats your boat. I give the hopes oil a go.
