madmanx
The real culprit as pictured below, reconise the rabbits and the grass? But that little Suzi is a belter of a dog she has had many a rabbit from under the hen hut.The gun is my new Anszhutz .17HMR with a 18" Barrel which is unbelivably accurate all these rabbits were taken at around 100yards with ease, there is also a 14" version of this gun which i have heard no reports on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v649/madmanx/Image011.jpg <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v649/madmanx/Image011.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"> Edited April 15, 2005 by madmanx

madmanx
 To reply to you Mr Hawkeye i have the leopold 6-18 vari x 2 scope, harris bipod jackson moderator i have zeroed in at 95 yards i have just been out today and best shot was 130 yards which i allowed nothing on the elevation ,how do you find the wind effects your shooting? i am currently using Hornady 17 grain ammo (2550 fps).I i prevously had the cz .17 hmr which the best kill i had was at 202 yards(Measured with my rangefinder) i found that the more ammo through the gun the accuracy seamed to improve
hawkeye
Hi madmanx i have a harris bipod my mod is a SAK i was advised by one of the blokes in my local gun shop who used to shoot for england (ive been told not by him) to zero 1inch high at 100yds and then anything out to 200 yds just aim dead on.i dont find the wind makes a great of difference, so saying ive never been out when its been blowing a gale, AMMO I started out using CCI gamepoint 20 grain and i found these to be very inconsistent i got quite a few fliers, mind could of been me. i now use Hornady 17gr (2550fps) Varmint Epress with V MAX bullet and i find these seem to be great They are polymer- tipped which is supposed to make then accurate for long range shooting. the longest i have up to now is a crow at just over 145 paces ive been advised to use a pull through after about every 20 shots and find this helps with the accuracy ive been told that the more ammo through without cleaning the less accurate it will be. So i use one of these snake bores after every 5 mags fired. PS less of the Mr the names Mike Mr makes me feel older than i am Edited April 21, 2005 by hawkeye
madmanx
:o Hi Mike it looks like we are on the same wavelength when it comes to Hmr's.I have only one compaint about my Anschutz which is that it only comes with a four shot mag,.I am also settled on the same Hornady ammo as you i have tried hollow point but found it to be inconsistant,i tend to clean my gun every 10 shots with a bore snake and tend to get through around 30 rounds per outing, most of my land is in the Yorkshire dales which is heaving with rabbits, the rabbits in the picture were shot at the back of Antuks workshop up a large banking,i took all the rabbits within a couple of minutes you could tell they had not been shot at before, where do you shoot(Generally) Edited April 22, 2005 by madmanx
