Recommended Posts

Okay well i was at the Selby game fair about a month ago and they had magnet for like £50 with a battery yet on UK shooting warehouse they £60 with out the battery up to nearly £200. I am going to be going to the Yorkshire game fair in a couple of weeks and was wondering if there is a cheap magnet there should i get it? or is it a case as with so many thing, when you get what you pay for?

I got one of those from Selby. Seems to be fine. Spins Pigeon's round like all the rest.

I'm a great believer in 'you pays your money and takes your chance' there are plenty of cheapo magnets out there and some may work fine BUT the ones that'll last the course and have a few extras such as adjustable angles etc are the best IMO even if they cost more in the first instance. It's the same with so much else, the best (usually the most expensive) stuff will last the best part of a lifetime with the cheapest you take the risk that it won't and generally it doesn't. Pay once!

Example; mate of mine is always moaning about his so called waterproof jackets never lasting for long...he never spends more than £100 odd on them but buys (sometimes) 3 a year. I buy one for £400 and he thinks I'm a ***** but I only buy one every 10+ years. QED It ain't rocket science

Battery wise-ask your local mobility specialist for any old ones.A friend of mine services an old gents mobility scooter thingy and the manufacturers waranty says the batteries must be replaced yearly regardless of condition.

So i now have three 12v 7ah Yucell batteries as back up!

As already said you tend to get what you pay for having said that i have 1 of those cheaper type £50 things and i find it to be fine i have tryed a few now and think you may as well pay that bit more for 1 and from someone you van get in touch with if you are having problems with it !

good luck :good:

hi ya

when i started to shoot over rape last winter i really wanted to bye a magnet so i did..

i got mine from ebay £65 with battery and two foam wind pigeons its fantastic.. but now if i even think to get it out of the car the pigeons will **** off.. so i dont use it over that shoot anymore :good:

if you use a magnet all the time thay get use to it :hmm:

two electric pigeon wing flapper and two electric peckers in your patens is a lot better i shoot two or three times a week and thay still fly in to my dead decoys every time

cheers David

ps happy shooting :D
