Baldrick
On a .22LR or .17HMR? I have the same scope on my HMR, and it does a good job. I only use the top-end magnification for zeroing, preferreing to leave it between 8-16x for use in the field. It's pretty clear glass. Baldrick
In which case I'd say it's more than you need, but would do the job fine. I prefer to use a fixed-power x50 scope on my .22s.
perfect
Cheers for that, its the only decent day scope i have at the minute.

Do you mean x5 by any chance Baldrick ? X50 seems alot
Baldrick
No, I mean x50. As in a 7x50 scope, with a 50mm objective lens. You mean 50x magnification - possibly a little excessive for a .22LR?

Newsportshooter
though perfect for the 300 yards + shots on the .17 Ahhhh good old tongue in cheek humour - before anyone starts the 300 yard .17HMR debate again...............
Horrocks
which bushnell sight would this be, ive just looked at optics warehouse and there seems to be a huge amount of choice ''''''''''''for the same scope mag, i dont understand all the abbreviatons
Baldrick
What abbreviations are you unsure of? Optics Warehouse has both the older adjustable-objective model, and the newer side-focus version. I have the AO version (good glass for daytime use, but the scope is a whopping 17" long). If you want to go down the Bushnell route (or any other US-branded scope), you may want to wait for the Sterling:Dollar exchange rate to improve over this year and buy directly from the States. Second-hand Bushnell 4200 Elites are advertised regularly on shooting forums.
DaveK
Second-hand Bushnell 4200 Elites are advertised regularly on shooting forums. Bausch and Lomb are the same. I have a B&L 4200. It's just an older version from before B&L were taken over by Bushnell. Just as good and maybe a tad cheaper if you can find them. Yours will work well with a CZ if you keep it to the lower magnifications under the lamp.
