groach1234
Okay i have been thinking about getting a bipod and was wondering which one should i get. I have mainly been thinking either a deben or harris. I could get the deben 9-13 tilt for about the same as the 9-13 harris fixed. Also there is a fixed deben for £40 so i could get that instead. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, Thanks, George Edited May 21, 2009 by groach1234
PAULT
which ever one you choose get a tilt one they are better because the ground is not normally level
wymberley
Hi, Go for the tilt every time. You pays your money and takes your choice, they're all about the same although I prefer the Harris. One point though which I've never checked out (I had a fixed on my 243 which I no longer have), a mate, a former police firearms senior instructor said that you can have accuracy problems when using a tilt on a fullbore. I don't know about this but someone certainly will. Cheers
flytie
Whatever you do, buy the tilt! I went for the Harris, as it has a proven record. I have not regretted it. ft
CZ550Kevlar
I bought a harris tilt copy, looks pretty much identicial and is just as tough and reliable but half the price, tilt will serve you better especially if you are zeroing off your bonnet because the ground is too wet and muddy to lay on plus as mentioned ground isnt always level either. dave dog
be care with cheap copies they may well look the same but there is a difference can't see my self. Brougth a cheap copy and it kept falling over, one side or other, legs would fold up. Had to rebliud it completely how its ok now it's been locited. Still not 110% sure with. Now changed all my bipod to harris. But also you got to think about safey you don't want to fall over when shooting as you don't where the shot will go. Buy tilting one much easier to use. Safe up and. Buy harris they are safer. I feel.
groach1234
Looks like its going to be a harris then, im costing up how much i will need for my .17hmr and have found a second hand left handed Cz452 american for £300 which i think is okay and then the bipod is the going to set me back around another £100 unless i can find a second hand one. So this brings me to the scope, i have a simmons 3-9x40 on my air rifle, will this be good enough for a .17hmr? George
buchangun
Buy a Harris - cheap copys are a false economy they look good but they all break in the end If all you can afford is a fixed harris thats better than a cheap tilt- you soon get qwick at adjusting the legs with a fixed bipod and there is a good weight saving with a fixed. I have a fixed 13 -27 two piece on my stalking rifle and it works great - I don't shoot of the bipod on the hill that much but it is allways good to go.
