SX3 Field FAC just arrived

Recommended Posts

After being told that Winchester do not import the SX3 Field (walnut stock) into the UK as an FAC 5 shot, a couple of weeks ago I heard that at the factory in Belgium they were doing a batch of 25 guns to this spec for European release. Quick call to my friendly local RFD and without delay Bruce and Craig at Adenbourne (Witney) were on the case! Thanks guys!

Collected the gun at lunchtime today and stopped of to see a farmer friend and have a play with my new toy.

Have only fired a few rounds through it so far - a few 50g and some 28g clays - very pleased, especially with the heavier cartridge in it. Off tomorrow to find some pigeons to pester. :hmm:

Only comment is that it comes with just three chokes - quarter/ half/ three-quarters - and I think I'll have to order the skeet choke in due course.

Will see how I get on with it before seeing about a magazine extension.

When I applied for my FAC shotgun, I was told by the FEO to state 'crop protection' as the main reason. I also had a letter off the farmer stating that he had huge problems with crop damage due to birds. I bought myself an Escort 5 shot, then added the extension tube making it an 8 shot.

:good: one of the nicest semi's i,ve seen in a long time , but whats with the butt pad , is that sticky tape holding it on

its recoil absorber and is adjustable. In USA they get a SX3 classic field that has a standard butt plate, not sure why we dont get it here

Have been out for a walk around the fields this evening and catch up with some bunnies. Very pleased with the SX3 - 5 hits with six cartridges. Not a high head count but a very pleasant end to a sunny day.

Anyway - was using a mix of 50g 3" magnums and 32g 2 3/4" 'normal'cartridges. Cycled perfectly, and the recoil with the magnums minimal.

Conclusion - impressed! Next will try on the pigeons
