2-dead-in-the-air
How old is the above model ?
Baldrick
It looks like production of the Tikka M590 began on 4th April 1991, but there's no end date given (taken from the Sako website): http://www.sako.fi/pdf/datatables/SakoOldmodelsNumbering.pdf If you really need to know, call GMK quoting the rifle's serial number. deadeye ive
I have a M595 which is considered to be far superior to its successor the T3
plinker
the 595 came out in 95 so it will have been built between 1990 and 1995. nice rifles  , pretty much the same as a 595 with a smaller ejection port making the action stiffer, they are a popular action to build a custom rifle on, the 595 is easier to single load though. 2-dead-in-the-air
Thanks guys Whats one worth in excellent condition ?
Baldrick
I'd expect the bare gun would probably realise £450-£500, if it is in genuinely good order. They are quite hard to come by, and appear to hold their value well.
plinker
which calibre is it? it will make a differnce to the value, also you need to try and find out how many rounds have been through it.

plinker
same as mine then, 222 are not hard on barrels. if its in good nick i would agree with baldrick 's valuation, really nice little triple like stuartp says grab it cos they are getting scarce. Baldrick
I am seriously considering canning my .22-250 and going back to the much less dramatic .222. Charlie doesn't know the difference.
wildfowler.250
If you don't mind me asking, how much does a m595 compaire to a m590 in quality and aslo in price new and second hand ?
plinker
m590 and 595 are basically the same in both performance and quality you cant buy either new any more they were replaced by the t3.

Baldrick
The main reason is losing sight picture (or not, in the case of the .222).
