M ROBSON
I've just finished a 3 day stalk where we were targeting some rather large bucks. We spotted 3 different certain golds but didn't manage to get a shot on any of those stalks. We did however get into some other nice bucks and shot a few in the process, leaving many others to run. Thursday mornings buck. Friday mornings old freak buck. A cracker on Friday night! This morning we stalked a buck that has been causing a lot of damage in a tiny plantation near a farmyard, this turned out to be a yearling buck!!!!! Another old buck this morning. My favourite quote from this week was a local farmer who said he'd seen a buck with "huge horns this big" and held his hands 12" apart. Cheers, Mark. Highlander
Damn good bucks those...gives the lie to the claim that Dorset/Hampshire have the best Roe. There's not many estates could come up with 5 bucks of that size in 3 days. Well done, I'm envious!
M ROBSON
Thanks guys, Here is a picture of some boiled out, 500g Freak head. 510g And here is a picture belonging to a friend of mine of a freak gold medal head which scored 189cic points, it's pictured next to another gold medal head. They were shot less than an hour apart and 1/2 a mile in distance on the same morning in Fife a few years ago. And 2 golds from the same morning he shot the year previous. I'm sure Fife can compeat with any county in the UK when it comes to medal Roe Bucks. Cheers, Mark.
