gunslinger
I have CZ 452 Americam .22lr in which I have tried an assortment of rounds. Eley and Winchester are the best rounds for the gun but both types of ammunition are heavily coated on wax which causes the occasional failure of the bolt to extract the empty case as it is waxed up. I have changed the holder, extractor and the retaining spring on the bolt but I still get the occasional non extraction. Apart from CCI's which do not work very well in my rifle could anybody recomend a good non waxy subsonic round? Many thanks Mark
radio1ham
hi mark i think most subsonic .22 have the wax (bullet lube) on them some more than others i also use the cz452 and never had any problems with any getting stuck etc ive used magtec .22 rf bullets which are ok for bunny bashing only problem with them is that they dont use a clean burning powder leaves residue in the barrel but nothing a cleaning rod and brush wont clean out if you worried about to much lube on the bullets try rubbing them with a cloth to take some off it usually comes off mine when they been in my pockets for a few hours
MC
Eley's are definetly the worst for the wax, I use Winchester Super X and they hardly have any wax on them at all. They work fine in my semi auto.
Newsportshooter
I agree with the above re Eleys - although they seem the best they are covered in that waxy ****.... Have you tried RWS subs - They are as near as damit to silent (more so than eleys), accurate and you should have no extraction problems with them in a bolt as they seem to have very little lube on them (or at least the ones I have are that way.) However they are rubbish in semi autos like my 10/22 (which if honest is a bit dirty but still)... Give em a go they are pretty cheap too.... drut
Had this problem until I read http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showt...d.php?p=2253149 . Certainly cured mine. Winchesters used to be a pain but have had no problems since modding a year ago.
Harnser
If to much wax ,then why not wipe it off if you want to use that particular cartridge . There will still be enough wax on the round to act as a lube . Harnser .
