Underkeeper Interviews.

Recommended Posts

Somehow, (God knows how) in this economic climate and time of year I have finally managed to to organise two interviews for two underkeeper jobs (after about 30 knock-backs).

One is in mid-east Wales on a very posh estate, I'm not sure of the details but I'm guessing It'll be working as part of a team of underkeepers.

The other is one south-west scotland, on a small family shoot, with a large amount of farm and fisheries work involed.

Anyhow, has anyone ever taken a gamekeeping interview, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on what I should be saying, and what the interviewer would look for, and if given the choice, which job would you take to start a career?

cheers

Andrew

Good luck bleeh....im sure experience in the field is priceless.....its what you say,not how you say it....if it was me...i would go for the small shoot, efforts will be noticed and appreciated more and theres the fisheries side of it aswell to keep it interesing....i doubt you want to be a pheasant farmer..id imagine you'd like to do things the traditional way.......good luck.. :yp:

for a carreer go to the big shoot, you'll get more experience with a commercial shoot which will look better on a CV, However it is likely to be very hard work and you may not be treated that well. The other shoot is likely to be better work conditions but won't look quite as good on your CV

Odds are they will be checking you're enthusiastic and a worker so just relax and look forward to the experience, whichever hope you enjoy hill walking as it'll be a bit of a change to Norfolk :yp:
