Tis1979
I was in Norfolk this weekend supossed to be doing some wedding planning with my Mum & bride to be But managed to get a shooting pass as they were having a dress rehershal, Anyway headed over the permission. On this one there's a good mix of crops but the field nearest me has Rape that didn'e take so is standing about a foot & 1/2 tall & very sparse to say the least but ideal for the pigeons to get in and theres some greens for them as well. Set up in a copse towards one side in the middle of the field and put a messy sort of Horseshoe pattern (re painted Flocked Deaks) took about twenty minutes to bag two woodies and decided to use the Magnet (of late i havn't been using it favouring the flapper) But set it up towards the back of the pattern and had a steady stream of pigeons for the duration of the 3hr pass i had (mainly 1 & 2's with the odd trio). I was about 100 metres of the main flight line but the magnet did a great job of bring them accross in ones & pairs ( set up that far from Flight line as time was ltd and a combination of wind/sun direction) really enjoyed the morning though and the farmer was chuffed with the result being 50 woodies 2 ferrells & even had a sneaky trip back at 17.00 to 18.45 for 22 more to make a total of 72 woods & 2 ferrells. Topped off by getting 30 pence a bird rather than the 25 i'm getting in Essex. Result. Cheers for Reading Tis

shoughton
I got married last year and do more shooting now than every before! My wife even comes out with me sometimes too - normally as the dog handler! She won't shoot though - scared of guns. I think the key is to be able to cook the game you shoot very well - when I get pigeons, hare or rabbit my wife immediately starts asking when and how I'm going to cook them. I haven't managed to get her plucking or preparing anything yet, but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen ..... Good luck with the wedding planning - hope your day turns out as good as ours. I knew I'd enjoy it - but it was a fantastic day to see all your best mates and family so happy and enjoying themselves. Steve
