ltbooth
Hi i was wondering if anyone on here could tell me how to power up my air rifle as i'm not sure which ox spring to get?
Guest RemmySPS
Be very careful when fitting any square profiled spring as it can take you over the legal limit. I don’t rate OX springs because they tend to make the rifle erratic, with varying velocities.
MM
Hi i was wondering if anyone on here could tell me how to power up my air rifle as i'm not sure which ox spring to get? yup. you do the following. . take it to an RFD along with your FAC (if you want it over 12lb) and ask him to fit it and set it at the power required. I know a bit about springers, but wouldnt risk my own eyes and fingers trying to fit one.
magman
Bin the ox spring and do yourself a favour there made for kids wanting more power

MM
the one that is in it. its not all about the power. have you had it on a chrono? more can be achived by tuning other parts, rather than forcing a bigger spring in.
ltbooth
no not done anything was going to take it in the shop and ask to get the spring regreased, what else could i do to try improve performance?
MM
if they make them for that gun, you could get a gas ram fitted instead. check the seals are not split or damaged. is it deisling? is it giving out too much power? all these things can affect power and accuracy. Milligan
Something as simple as changing pellets could improve performance i.e. accuracy and power. But it is important to stay below 12ft/lbs - anything over is classed as a firearm and carries heavy penalties if caught.
ltbooth
i have since regreased the rifle and is sweet as a nut when firing but the only problem i have now is how inconsistent it is. one minute it is hitting perfect next it is dropping shots all over the place, can anyone shed some light on this problem and what i can do to sort it? Gonk
Have you tried other pellets m8? It does make a big difference.
Gonk
Also make sure your position is exactly the same each shot, even having your head slightly out will have you aiming off. How long have you had it? Is it something it's just started happening?

Its something you can get through your local FEO which will enable you to shoot a air rifle with more balls and i believe it is good to a certain k.e. rating? And i think it may vary by locality Edited July 1, 2009 by LeeinVA
