webber
On my previous shoot we built a pen from builders mesh panels, located it partly on the bank and partly in the water. The ducks were released into the pen. After around 2 weeks, the ducks had started to fly out, so we removed the pen. The ducks were safe from fox and learned where home was. On our new shoot, we released around 100 ducks onto a pond. No pen, no electric fence. I escorted the birds back to the pond 3 times yesterday, and sat on fox watch with rifle and lamp untill 00:30 Hrs. when I was relieved by another member. I appreciate that there are different schools of thought. Which do you subscribe to, or do differently? webber
markm
Pen and fill them with food and fresh water then they know where home is. My pond is right beside a wheat field so they just walk up a tram lines never to be seen again. Edited June 28, 2009 by markm
AndyCM
Have you any natural islands or man made ones (floating pallets) ? I watch foxes regularly checking all ponds on a sheep farm after ducks & ducklings - usually through a scope
M ROBSON
No pen needed, put plenty of food down for them at the start and cover the place in snares. My friend has had his ducks (2500 on 5 ponds) out for 2 weeks and caught 21 foxes so far. Mark.

starlight32
He's too extreme and radical... Take for example his stance on rape. I put a an earth one in after using floating ones made from pallets and barrels. Take my hat of to you for your dedication to sentry duty, but you don't want to keep it up for a long periods do you?
