SSS
My girlfriends black labrador has some traits the remind me of a collie. She was bred out of pure labrador but the litter before was collie cross labrador, thing is, would there be any collie genes left in the mother after the first litter? She looks like labrador completely, but she runs like i have never seen a lab run before, she has a bit of a herding instinct and she can jump like a lurcher! I will post a video of her jumping onto the heston bales, which are stacked 3 high. You wont believe it until you see it! Any thoughts Gents? Lloyd90
So the lab isnt a pedigree ? If not and the grandfather was a collie then yes she could easily have some collie traits
SSS
the lab is pedigree but the litter before wasnt. 1st litter was Collie x Labrador, 2nd litter was pedigree labrador, 3rd was pedigree labrador. Puddin, (the lab in question) was in the 2nd litter. Regards, Sam
Lloyd90
Well in that case I doubt it lol! If the collie wasn't the father I don't see how it was possible to pass his traits onto a different litter to the one he had with the bitch I think its impossible tbh lol, its science not magic hehe! al4x
this comes down to basic genetics and to start at basics if you were going out with someone who had had a child with someone else lets say she is blonde haired blue eyed and the father was shall we say black then you would get a cross bred baby. Now if you go and get her pregnant and you're blonde haired as well then you won't get a coloured baby the same as your dog won't produce a collie cross when its from the previous litters fathers side.
