happychappy246
i have recently took up breeding pure breed american pheasants with a total of about 300 chicks this year. i have sold half of these no trouble at all and i now have enough money to expand if i'd like but im not sure if it is worth it or not ? i need a few opinions
Boromir
If your good at what your doing do it, providing that there is a market out there. Ive been thinking about game rearing myself over the years. You start of small then gradually grow that's how all business works
happychappy246
its alot easier than i thought once you have all the equipment. i love doing it but it worried me when i started that i might not be able to get rid of them but it all looks good at the moment. i might have a problem next year of not having any land to put everything on so thats my next worry but i would really recommend doing it

You'll find that people would rather buy british bred than french import, and - if you keep your nose in - should be able to sell them no problems. Prehaps you should also think about doing some onimental pheasants? - Golden/lady Am, etc, you can always sell them to big houses and such for pets. AmateX
One thing to remember the more birds you do the more chance for disease etc it’s a numbers game. Good luck.

al4x
my brother's boss found some of those turkeys in Wales, shot one from a valley floor expecting it to be a pheasant but it was a bleeding great big turkey that hit the deck

stevew
I had a couple of black turkeys over me while shooting in Wales in December, like a pair of Lancaster bombers, didn't know I could shoot them until after the drive otherwise I would have. They used them in the release pens to deter predators.
happychappy246
apparently they keep away buzzards mine are only 12 weeks old and they already stand above my knee one thing i have noticed about them is that they can be quite aggressive to other birds
