pigeonrob
one of my farmers starting to swathe the rape tomorrow!! its the barley round here thats quite rare. none on any of my permissions. just been keeping busy shooting the barns for ferals and woodys with my air rifle. had 14 on saturday. going to get a new big pigeon holdall in preparation for lugging everything AROUND the fields. i have got too used to the luxury of driving round to drop my kit off!! Cranfield
I have been popping out between the showers this week shooting over swathed rape and the pigeons were dropping in while the combine was still on the field. We have very little barley round here and the birds have been all along the edges of the ripening wheat. Now the rape is being swathed that seems to be their food of choice. On a side issue, I sat in the hide yesterday and it was very stormy and muggy. Overhead there were about 30 swifts feeding very high up, it was nice to see so many, as they have been a bit scarce this year.
