Wookie
Well, I knew it was going too well... Ralph was his normal self early this morning, had his morning feed, but then threw it up again just a short while later. Lots of whining, not his normal self at all, and would not move from the sofa. He looked in a lot of pain, so I got on the phone to the vet and got him in. After a brief examination, I get bundled off to the local vet hospital where the poor little chap's now being treated for either a stone in the gut, or a possible interceception. He's just had a drip put in, some pain relief and a pre-med, and the vet is now looking at the x-rays. I'm really worried for the little guy and also quite glad that the six weeks free insurance we got with registering him with the kennel club came through at the end of last week. I hate waiting, but i'm going to be staying here until I get told to go home by the vet.
Wookie
Just got home after being told it would be a couple of hours. Ralph has a number of things in his gut and is now in surgery. I am scared ****less for him and busy chain-drinking tea. The next few hours are goign to be tough.

Wookie
Just had a good long chat with Ted's trainer and have also found the certificate of insurance for him, so feeling a little better, but still very jittery about the whole thing. Probably another hour or so till surgery is done and I'm getting nervous about the phone beside the computer now... Thanks guys. I really appreciate the support. Isn't it amazing that even the toughest men can be brought low by a sick dog?

Wookie
Just had the call... He's ok. He's now out of surgery and starting to wake up after having two stones (one rather large) taken out of his stomach and a flip-flop's toe separator thingy and another stone squeezed out of his other end. Very, very relieved I can tell you. He's going to be in overnight, but we should get him back tomorrow. Now, how do I make a rockery puppy-proof? MC
Excellent, Glad to hear the little man is OK, With regards to making the rockery puppy proof, get some trellis panels and cable tie them together around it. It will be a novelty to him for a while until he finds something else to play with.
jmooney
Glad to hear he came through fine. Also glad to hear you have insurance! My uncle had a sock removed from his GSP and it's wasn't free that's for sure. Give the little guy a pat on the head from us.

Wookie
Had a word with the vet last thing yesterday and found out what they did to him. Basically, cut in belly, then small cut in gut to get out the stones. As of last night (and I'll be getting another update at 11 this morning), he was awake and still on a drip, but looking a lot more cheerful. They are also going to be feeding him soon to get his gut working properly. He's not allowed out unsupervised and will be pretty much isolated to his crate for a couple of days until he gets started healing. With any luck he should be home this afternoon. Thanks for all the support guys. I'll show Ralph the page when he gets back!
