Took my 5 month old lab out today for a 15 minute lesson . We did some heeling with the lead on , which she did really well at . Also did quite a few sits on the walk with the whistle and hand sign no problem there , however when i try and walk round her whilst she is sat she will get up and turn round to face me and sit again . Is this ok or does it need to be sorted?

Also after the session i removed the lead and let her have a run about and chase me and a big fussing session . Is this ok to do or will she think that once the lead is off she can run about ?

And the last question of the night. As i have a house dog to am i ok in walking them both together in the morning ?

the first bit yes meaning she has your full attension. i think with the lead bit. if you try bring a toy into the equation. my springer has ducky. ducky is only for playtime. and yes. dogs are dogs working or lap dog they can still walk together. thats my 2p cheers.

If the house dog isn't trained in obodience like heel work and what your doing with the lab then I wouldn't take it along for training, if your just going for a walk then that's fine to take both, might also help the dog know when it can cut loose and just play and when it has to do a lil work and train

I agree with wgd, there is plenty of time to drum training into them, i have a 4.5 month old Lab, she sits and comes back when told but the rest of the time she is just enjoying being a pup.

Give your pup another month or 2 before moving to the next level.

Dave.
