smiiithy
Anybody who has sold a rifle or sent it off for tuning could someone tell me the best carrier for value when posting a rifle? Cheers in advance, Mike

steve_b_wales
If it's FAC rated, it has to go through a RFD. I paid £25 to send mine away. (£25 back as well!)
Beardo
i've never had any problems sending air rifles - i take them to the main sorting office (where you pick up signed letters etc.), it must be in a box so it's not identifiable. They're happy to take any size. Costs about £10 parcel post. more for insured

clayman
While you can wrap any goods and send them in Parcel Force, the sending of weapons is outside their conditions of acceptable goods and if it gets lost you will get no compensation and have a lot of explaining to do as to why you send it that way in the first place. Parcel Force DO have a scheme to allow guns to be posted through APPROVED account holders only, not just Joe Public. TNT are the secure carrier recommended by the Gun Trade Association, but again, you need to be an approved account holder to use the secure facilities. If you send an anonymous parcel UPS TNT Fedex Royal Mail Parcel Force etc chances are it will get through, but if it gets lost expect a lot of **** on the fan and no compensation Use a RFD service to send guns, they have accounts and its all legal and above board, and the goods are insured.
