George1990
How do you chaps do it? I noticed that over 100yards the point of impact is to the right, and close is to the left (haven't tested close on paper but missed a v. close bunny to the left) Also, how can you make sure that the scope is optically centred? I had to wind the windage over loads. My mounts (cheap Hawke) say they are suited to 3/8" dove tails but they do not sit very snugly. What do all you CZ owners use as mounts?? crieffy
I use BKL double-strap mounts on my Varmint and they are a perfect fit on the 3/8 grooves The matt finish on them goes well with the Varmint too. I think they also come in a satin or blued finish? John
Beardo
i use hawke mounts, and only ever set the mounts/scope by eye (never bothered with plumb lines etc.) shoots as straight as i can anywhere up to 150 yards. it's always worth checking how you shoot against how the rifle sits vertically - for me the rifle tends to lean very slightly to the left when i shoot, so i set my scope up vertical when i'm holding it. Thanks Though I read that the recticle should be exactly verticle when the gun is, or it can cause problems at different ranges. But if it works for you then there you go! Think having it perfectly straight is more of a problem which you seem to have got right, as this would change POI at different ranges like mine . Might invest in some better mounts like crieffy and and use yet more rounds! But that's the way it goes i suppose.
MC
The crosshairs should be vertical when YOU hold the gun. The actual rotation of the gun is irelevant. If the crosshairs are not perfectly upright then any windage adjustment will alter the elevation and vice versa. This is more apparent at long distances. This is why you will see a lot of target shooter have spirit levels fitted to their foresights.
taffygun
BKL mounts are the best mounts for the 3/8" dovetails as they clamp evenly from both sides keeping the mounts flat. That said I use Sportsmatch mount and they do cant up slightly but that said once zeroed and paper practised then its fine. Good luck getting hold of a set of BKL's Apparently CZ do their own mounts now that are 3/8" and not 9-11mm

THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
BKL closed down but after quite a long time they are back in production. Pretty sure BAR sell them. Sportsmatch do a 3/8" range I think & they are good mounts. BKL's for me on the .22 & HMR though. Have a look at these. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2noVkhVTlqw&...feature=related http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj70tzt-yZc&...feature=related
Dunkield
I've got Sportsmatch rings on mine and even after plenty of use and getting clonked a few times it holds zero. I set my gun up level, then the scope up level, then as long as the cross hairs are level when I shoot, if I miss I know it is down to me. I'll try and get hold of these clamps. Though I have the removable clamps on the same side, but still get what must be the twisting effect. This must be due to the clamps not sitting in the dovetails evenly. Either way my mounts are cheapo rubbish ones. Thanks again, I'll get some BKL's. Yup BAR have new stock of them. Got a set for £21.95. Edited August 10, 2009 by George1990
