WGD
Ok, I am becoming convinced that these rifles may indeed be the mutt's nuts - smile JohnGalway, I may just agree with you As opposed to buying a .22LR AND a .17HMR I can do it all with one tool, so for those that have a similar set up, what's yours and how much did you pay? I see some of the Synthetic Quads on guntrader from £550 but obviously that's for one calibre, what do you pay for the extra barrel and what scope/mounts set up do you have to ensure you can change barrels without replacing the scope? Thanks in advance.
Glensman
I think there's a scope made especially for this gun, I think by Burris...
Dave-G
Have a read of this thread if it helps: Barrel swapping And read one of Johns Galway's recent posts about the extraction claw regarding the .22lr - as this addresses the biggest gripe I have with my Quad. Once that easy mod has been done it's a perfect way to have two calibres with a decent scope on top for about the same price as two cheaper rifles with cheaper scopes on. In addition - you can carry the second barrel in your gun bag to change on site if needed and it's much less to take on a shooting break if you are ever likely to travel far with it. WGD
Quad now ordered, can get the .22LR barrel from stock but have to wait (and cross my fingers) for the .17HMR as GMK are not due another shipment in until the end of October - apparently they are due 30 barrels and they have 37 on back order :look: Scope choice next... anyone want to recommend? Raja Clavata
Hello, I set out with similiar intentions as yourself but was impressed enough with the quad to so for a second one and swerve all the trouble of changing barrels - do many people actually do that anyway? Started off with a Hawke 3-12 x 50 scope on the .22lr and a Nighteater 6-24 x 56 on the .17HMR - both a load of tosh compared to the S & B that now sits on the HMR. There is the Burris Quad scope designed for the quad but it looks like a gimmick to me, one for sale here : http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/shoptics.htm If you go much bigger than the Burris you'll most likely have to take the scope off to change the barrels. Personally, if I couldn't stretch to a new S & B I'd probably buy a secondhand one rather than some of the others - each to their own mind and I'm sure some would say S & B is OTT for a rimfire. Whatever you end up deciding be confident you'll be happy with it in the long run, most of all enjoy the quad - cracking piece of kit imho :look:
