GINO
Hello to everybody from Greece. I am shooting every end of October migrating flocked woodpigeons on high mountains in dense fir forests. Flight line is over the slopes. There are rare open areas for decoying. Any propose which decoy is suitable for my situation ?
Cranfield
Obviously observing the regular routes the birds take, will help you get into the right positions. With fir forests being always leafed, it will be difficult to use lofted decoys (decoys that are put into the trees ), unless you have other trees in the area that are leafless in the Autumn/Winter. Do you see the birds resting, or feeding in the open areas ? If so, then standard ground decoys should attract them down.
kdubya
there must be somewhere under the flightline that is clear enough for a single rotary even better if on a slope that would get them in range? KW
deny essex
A rotary as suggested and perhaps a bouncer and flapper if the decoying area is small and an unlikely area for ground food by the sound of it, the movement may just bring inquisitive flighting birds within gun range. GINO
Thanks to everybody for replying.... Yes , there are some little open areas on slopes , even some oak trees. My imagination provoke me to hang on tree (I do not know how): FLOCKED COATED WINGED WOOD PIGEON DECOY PLUS BOUNCER from : *************** OR Terminator Flying Pigeon Decoy from : : www.############## Am I waisting my time ? Cranfield
Gino, the weblinks you have posted won't show up on the site, as we don't allow the unauthorised advertising. If you want your decoys to be in the trees, then I suggest you get proper lofting decoys, rather than trying to tie a bouncer or floater type of decoy up a tree. If you click on the UKShootwarehouse banner at the top of the page, then go to "Pigeon Decoys" and have a look at the "Lofting Hooks and Lofting Poles Package", that is the correct equipment for putting decoys into trees, or high hedges. B) Mention Pigeon Watch and you will get a discount at UKShootwarehouse.
