ShaggyRS6
There is an outside chance that we may be getting a 15 month Old Female Lab. She has not been spayed and my ESS has not been fixed. Having never had a dog and a bitch before i have a couple of questions. During the period when the bitch is not in season can I assume that there is no chance of her getting pregant? I am assuming keeping a dog and a bitch is ok and I mean this from a relationship with each other point of view? My springer is very timid and therefore i see the lab becoming head Honcho, which is actually a good thing. Anything else i should be aware of? I dont want to get the springer fixed, but i will get the lab done. i just want to make sure I am clued up on the chances of her getting pregnant whilst not in season. WGD
Hard enough to get them in pup when they are in season, absolutely NO chance out of season. BUT, when she is in season you may have hell's own job with you dog, are they kennelled separately? That's about he only chance you've got of keeping it sensible, and even then if they are next to each other your dog could still be a nightmare. magman
All is well if not in season
chandelierman
i have just given my english bull terrier dog to a friend who also has a bitch,he must think he has died and gone to heaven,he will **** anything, unless the bitch is in season then she won't get knocked up ( although he should get 10/10 for effort but "she" keeps telling him off ) you can get something from the vets thats stops the dog trying it on all the time
ShaggyRS6
Well she will be getting spayed as soon as possible. The Dog will get fixed as well, but i cant afford to have them both done right now. Just wanted to know if they would/will be ok for now. ShaggyRS6
Cool. I will be getting her done before she comes into season. The current owner has a record of when she was last in season. I dont want to do it as soon as i get her (if i get her) as i dont want to stress her out what with the move. Ozzy Fudd
hmm i wouldnt trust records, my bitch comes into season every 4 to 6 months, no guaranteed time!
ShaggyRS6
Ok. Here's another one. Is there an injection/tablet that would stop a bitch coming into season?
Guinea Fowl
We got an injection for our bitch many moons ago, The vet gave it her. But it`s permanent, it`s not like the pill your wife uses I don`t know if you just get a short term one tho.
WGD
Ok. Here's another one. Is there an injection/tablet that would stop a bitch coming into season? Yes there is an injection which means the bitch will miss a season.
Ozzy Fudd
Yes there is an injection which means the bitch will miss a season. but its not guaranteed to work (trust me, i found out the hard way )
ShaggyRS6
Well we put a deposit down today. The current owners will get the dog Spayed for us as they have a good relationship with their local vet and can get it done cheaper. My Wife (Who is the main benefactor) is so happy, which in turn makes me happy!!!! If all goes well we should have her by the end of next week. ShaggyRS6
Introduced the dog's tonight on neutral ground. 1. It was great to spend time with someone who has a passion for Lab's as we do 2. I was taught a thing or too regarding dog behaviour 3. It was a joy to watch the 2 dogs play together 4. Aero tried it on with the Lab a few times. He was FIRMLY put in his place when he tried to go too far which I was very happy about It looks like the Lab will become the dominant dog, which is what I wanted to happen. She should be spayed next week so I should have her with me within 2 weeks or so.
